Daily fees increased by 5% (from $115 to $121), which is double the inflation rate. My pay doesn't increase by 5% per year, so the increase appears a little excessive.
Very disappointing the Centre has started charging parents a transaction fee to debit daily fees from their accounts AND does not provide a payment option with a $0 transaction fee. Whilst the fee is small, I have issue with the principle and like any cost cutting conscious parent this thought comes to mind: "the ability to put a man on the moon has been achieved, so there is no excuse for the Centre to not provide a fee free payment option such as EFT from parent's bank account to the Centre's designated account. Surely the Centre (Moonee Valley council) can come up with a solution or cover the cost with the 5% increase in daily fees.
No doubt the Centre will attribute responsibility to the Moonee Valley council but the point remains, because of their size/transaction volumes councils can negotiate better banking transaction cost terms.
