  Susan's teaching is relaxed and fun! Both my children have had lessons with her (guitar with my 6 year old and lute with my 8 year old). She tailors the lessons to their ability and is not stuck to a particular book or method. She has a lovely balance between having fun and getting on with learning. She is very open to a trial of a few lessons to see if the instrument matches you or your child.

  Susan is a great teacher. She has been teaching my daughter guitar for two years, and in that time my daughter has learned so much. Not just how to play the guitar, but also music theory, notation, and all around musicianship. The best thing is that Susan has done this without having to be strict and overly demanding, and without enforcing hours of technical exercises. She keeps music fun, she pays attention to her students’ interests as well as their ability, and she tailors her approach to the student rather than going through a set syllabus. My daughter’s love of music has blossomed under her guidance. If you or your child want to learn guitar, harp, or lute, then do yourself a favour and give Susan a call!

  Susan is an amazing musician, AND she is also a very gifted teacher (and very friendly!) She clearly likes children and seems to really enjoy helping them to discover a love of music. Week after week she inspires my son to keep at it and challenges him to keep improving. She has introduced him to the wonderful world of music and had him reading music so fast neither he nor I couldn't believe it. The lessons are always well planned and tailored to where my son is up to - what he's loving and what he's struggling with - yet she always manages to respond to whatever happens in the lesson and makes the most of every learning opportunity. She has a well-planned and easy to understand approach to practice, and has helped us, as parents, feel like we can help our son practice well. She's awesome. Ring her right now.

  As a music educator myself, I feel qualified to say that Susan King is an excellent teacher. I have seen her working with both older and younger students and have been extremely impressed with her ability to tailor her teaching style and program to the needs of the individual students. Her musical knowledge is extensive yet she has the ability to pitch her content to the level of her students. I have always found Susan to be well prepared for, as well as enthusiastic about my lesson. Susan has the ability to engage and motivate her students to want to learn and to want to improve their skills.
  
  If you want to learn from a skilled, friendly and engaging teacher, I cannot recommend Susan highly enough.

  I had music lessons with Susan King for 5 years, as an adult learner with previous musical experience, after meeting her in an Adult Ed workshop. During that time I also participated in a beginner ensemble group Susan set up, and we performed at an Australian music festival. Susan was a great teacher, inspiring, encouraging, with broad musical experience and an intuitive sense of what I would enjoy. She was professional, on time and with a good space to learn in, with resources and contacts that I have found valuable. As an adult learner, I can highly recommend Susan.
  I have also had opportunity to see Susan interact with younger students, and I notice Susan easily establishes a rapport with all age groups.
